On the Bookshelf:

DSC_0460
I took this photo a few months ago....so this isn't my beside pile today. But some of them are still there. I pretty much always have a stack of books to read. I loooove reading. My parents are big readers too. That's where I get it from!

On this pile I've already finished:
1. Unfeeling: Book club book. Pretty unsettling but well written. It is about the farm attacks in Africa. I wanted it to end better but since it is based on real events it couldn't. Too much profanity for me.

2. Waiting for Birdy. Soooo funny. Thanks to my SIL Brooke for telling me to read it. Totally absolutely kooky lady. And i loved it for that. I literally laughed out loud quite a bit and even read some parts to Regan.

3. The Five Love Languages: Really enjoyed this one a lot. And I am a lot more conscious of ways that people show me love. Especially my hubby. As soon as Reg has some time off I've told him I think he should read it too.

On this pile I've started: (i normally have a few books on the go)
1. Covenant Hearts: All about marriage. It is really well written and so good.

2. Your money or your life. It's good but the first two chapters were really repetitive. I hate it when a book keeps trying to sell you on their view point. If I bought the book, I probably am already sold on the idea!

3. Because He first loved Us. Wonderful collection of essays on the Savior. Really wonderful moving stuff.

Other books:
1. The Girls: currently reading it for book club. It's about a pair of conjoined twins. Very interesting!

2. They came from below: An easy environmentally based science fiction book I read in three days. (easy, quick read!)

What are YOU reading?

Nothing really. I am taking suggestions!
You should try the love languages of kids.

I just finished the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People and I am currently reading How Children Learn by John Holt.

The Thirteeth Tale. By Diane Setterfield. I find it very hard to find capitivating reads. This is perfect just "gothic" enough to capture my attention. You have to read it!
Right now I'm reading Daughter of the Forest...so far so good but still too easy to put down.

I haven't read the 5 love languages but I did read the 4 seasons of marriage by the same author. He talks about the love languages in the book. Right now I'm reading The Confident Woman by Joyce Meyer, Multiple Bles8ings by Jon & Kate Gosselin and Shaman's Crossing by Robin Hobb. I also have The Necklace by Cheryl Jarvis, waiting for me at the library.

I have a pile as well!
I just finished reading "Against Medical Advice" by James Patterson/Hal Friedman. True story about a family's struggle with their son's tourettes/OCD/anxiety. It's an amazing read!
"The Total Money Makeover" by Dave Ramsey. Very practical, well written and coming from a Biblical perspective, which I appreciate!
To be read...
"The Five People You Meet in Heaven" by Mitch Albom. It was recommended reading from my friends book club.
"Kiss" by Ted Dekker... DH got it from the library, but didn't get a chance to read it, so I will instead! :D
We have oodles of fun kids books on the go too...

5 love languages is great. My parents always had it growing up and now my Dad is a bishop of a YSA ward and he gives a copy of it to every couple who get married. I am still trying to get Ian to read it.

I'm currently reading the Mitford novels - I'm on book #4. It's a really great series about a preacher in a "quiet", small town. It's pretty funny too. First book is called At Home in Mitford and the author is Jan Karon if you want to check it out. I know the public library has all the books in the series :-)

I'd like to read the 5 love languages. I'm reading "The Shack" right now by William P. Young. So far so good, heard lots of good about it. And I'm slowly making my way through "The Chronicles of Narnia". I also recommend "The 5 people you Meet in Heaven", a quick read.

Hey lady, I've actually been thinkin' about adding a "bookshelf" to my blog too. Been reading a lot lately, mostly fiction (The Outlander, Dream When You're Feeling Blue, The Piano Tuner). Love your idea of taking a photo of the stack of books. I have so many yet to read - they are totally crowding my nightstand! LOL! Oh and I agree with Val about The Thirteenth Tale - so good!

I'm reading "The Elegant Gathering of White Snows" by Kris Radish and just renewed the third Harry Potter book (I'm trying to get through the series). For book club this month we are reading "October" by Richard Wright and then there's Jodi Picoult's book "Change of Heart" too. I have 2 or 3 stacks of books waiting in various places around the house :)) Thanks for sharing your list!

You know I love the 5 languages of love, and even more to applying it to chick flicks. I go to chapters, write down the books I want to read, and put them on hold at the library. My problem is they usually all come in at the same time and since I only read on the bus I never end up finishing all of them. Last book I read that I loved: The last lecture, so much that I watched it afterwards. Currently reading: The Killing Circle. Waiting for: Once a Runner, Always looking Up.

Love seeing what other people are reading as I also love to read. I can't believe how many books you have on the go. Amazing.
Currently I am reading You are Better Than You Think You Are by Ardeth Kapp. Super good.
