Is there a food that reminds you of someone? Or something? Or a time in your life?
Making bread reminds me of being a small girl. Of standing at the counter with my hands in the dough, my mom placing a bit of dough in front of me for just me to figure out how to form it.
Making donuts reminds me of being lined up in the kitchen with my siblings. Each one of us with a job. Someone to cover them in glaze, one to put them on the racks to dry.
Pie reminds me of my friend Dyane and my sister Kelly. One day Kelly was in visiting our house (which was common place) and I got a call asking me how to make pie. So I explained over the phone and told them the recipe. Then a short while later I went home to find Dyane and Kelly mixing the dough with a mixer. Now if you don't know anything about making pie that won't seem funny to you. But I almost peed my pants laughing. Seriously. They told me I didn't say HOW to combine the ingredients. Something I thought people just KNEW.
Chocolate chip cookies remind me of my grandma H. She was constantly cooking cookies that had tofu in them and trying to trick us into eating them. So I started never accepting cookies from her :) Tofu in cookies goes against all the things I love about cookies :) hahahahaha
I have lots of other memories tied to food.
It's one of the reasons I love food!
Do YOU have any?

how i love baked goods! I can't think of anything specific tying to memories other than Christmas treats. Great pics!
those are the most delicious donuts i've ever seen.
I'd like to have some bread with donuts on the side and a cookie for breakfast please. Oh crap...I quit sweets. Dangit!
Butter cookies remind me of Christmas growing up. My mom would make a ton with sprinkles. To this day I absolutely HAVE to make them every year just like my Mom.
Congrats on the 50th post coming up, I really enjoy your blog and I'm excited about your giveaway!
OMGoodness, how did I ever forget that? Pie was the one thing I had never been taught how to make.. Oops I soo know better now.
Baking reminds me of all my beloved grandparents who taught me me soo much (except pie lol) and I feel by baking them with my kids I am passing those memories onto my kids.
I also plan on baking to be a memory making thing for my kids. I dream of the days when my boys go on their missions and the look on their companions faces when they make bread for the first time. ;)
I think I may have to do a food memory Tuesday Truths post.
You may have to teach me how to bake pies too haha.

How do I win the free give away? Frankly, you make everything look amazing that you make/do, so I would love whatever it is you are giving away!
Yes, food has memories for me too, especially Christmas goodies. I hope my children have fond memories of certain foods too, like homemade pizza which we do every fri night.
All I can say is YUM!
My Gram always had the granddaughters over for a weekend in December, and we decorated sugar cookies, but I swear we ate more decorations than made it to our cookies! LOL! At this same weekend, we always had Kraft Dinner, with wieners, and it never tastes the same at home!
Pizza... homemade... family movie night in our house now :) I hope it stays a memory for our children :)
Oh I have so many memories from food...homemade chocolates especially!
BTW...I mix my pie dough in my Kitchen Aide, best pie dough I have ever had...flakey and soft!

ALL my food hang-ups, good and bad, come from my Nonna Paola... I wish I could eat gnocchi everyday of my life. And home made pizza. And biscotti! Ohhh, I miss her...
I love that your Grandma made tofu cookies! I put some chickpeas in chocolate chip cookies I was serving the missionaries once - they weren't impressed! I didn't think the chickpeas were that noticeable, but I haven't made them again either!
