In the Craft Room: Happy National Scrapbooking Day

I'm back at home.
And it is good to be home. Very good.
Especially to have Regan home for the weekend too. All of us at home!

Since today is a special day. (For some people.) :)
I wanted to mention a few things about scrapbooking.
It really is a big thing in my life.
I am not a "professional" or "famous" scrapper. But I love doing it.
So a list about scrapbooking.

1. I love that it helps me to see the positive little tidbits in my life. Helps me see things better. Clearer. And remember them. Ali Edwards calls that being a "Life Artist".

2. I love photography. And i love writing. And i love art. Fantastic combo!

3. I love the freedom of it. I have heard so many people talk about how they are behind. Or they don't know where to start. Or that they don't know what to do with it. I feel so the opposite about all those statements. There are no rules to it. So you can't do it wrong. It's impossible. Literally impossible. (which is so cool.) You can't be behind. It's' a hobby. If you make 10 pages or 150 or 2, it really doesn't matter. At least you did some. Start with today. Start with yesterday. It doesn't matter. Just write down what you are thinking about today.

4. I love supplies. Love the pretty paper. And paint. And fabric. And rub-ons, acrylic, letters and fonts. Fancy pens and staples. Ribbon and buttons. All those little things make me happy.

5. It really is part of me to create things. So very much something I learned about my mother. Making things (especially pretty things) makes me feel like I have accomplished something. It makes me feel alive. It is so very much an essential part of my life. If I wasn't scrapbooking, I'd be quilting, or sewing or pottery. Creating something.

6. Scrapbooking leaves a part of you behind. For everyone else. If you know anything about me, you know I've lost loved ones. And I love all the little tidbits that they have left behind. A card Kelly wrote me is one of my most prized possessions. I hear her voice and see her handwriting every time I read it. Like she is sitting beside me. I am leaving that for my kids, my husband. For everyone who cares about me.

7. I love that your pages can be as unique as you are. I love all different scrappers work.
Like this one. (she is soooo funny!)
And this one.
And this one.
And this one.
And this one.
And they are all so different from each other. It's like a really good buffet of your favorite foods.
(And seriously WHO doesn't love a good buffet.)

So in honor of NSD, here are some pages from this month's kit from Scraptivity.

This is not a good picture. But it means a lot since it was a special day in our family.

And some of my favorite pages I've ever done.
For different reasons.
Maybe I like the color scheme or the journaling really says what I want it too. Or the photos are some of my favorite. Or it's a memory that means a lot to me.

(I think that is officially my longest post. and it you made it all the way through either you like scrapbooking, your care about me or you are TOTALLY bored.)

I must admit...I do not like to scrapbook...I would rather pay some one to do it for me. But I love your work and it makes me want to do a few pages of my own....but only if you help me...or just do it for me. I loved the one on Alden and the Tookie Monster...I can so hear him saying that in his sweet voice!
I also loved seeing Walker as a baby on your page and the one with your sister Kelly...I should do some thing like that for my sister...but then again maybe I will pay some one!
Miss you and Love you!
