5. Speaking of that patio set.... I made a fun playhouse out of the boxes for the kids. Oliver and Eli and I sat out in that play house for like 2 hours. I read a book and they played. It was great. (Had to share these all cause he looks so cute!)

Snapshots from Wateron

Whenever Regan had his day off we like to do something fun as a family. This week we wanted to go over Logan's pass. But then we realized that our passports just expired. So instead we went to Waterton. We go there a lot. We love it! Here are snapshots from our day.

In the Kitchen: Rhubarb Sourcream Pie

This GREAT recipe is from my friend Lonnie. I told her to email me a picture and this is what she sent me.... her kids view of her....

:) Lonnie is a crack up. And SUCH A good cook! She is in Dinner Club with me.

Rhubarb Sourcream Pie

Anywho, on to the PIE! Over two years ago Lonnie brought me one of these pies. And I fell in love with it! SO GOOD!

4 cups rhubarb
your favorite pie crust
1 cup sugar
1 cup sourcream
1/3 cup flour
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup brown sugar

1.Ppreheat oven to 425 degrees. Roll out your pastry and put it in your pan. Fill with your rhubarb. Mix together the sour cream, sugar and 1/3 cup flour and pour over top the rhubarb.
2. Cut together the 1/2 cup flour, butter and brown sugar and sprinkle over top the pie.
3. Bake on bottom shelf for 10 minutes at 425 and then reduce heat to 350 and bake for 40-50 minutes until rhubarb is cooked and the top is brown.
Enjoy!

Spiritual Sundays

“To find real happiness, we must seek for it in a focus outside ourselves,” President Thomas S. Monson teaches. “No one has learned the meaning of living until he has surrendered his ego to the service of his fellow man. Service to others is akin to duty, the fulfillment of which brings true joy.”

“We do not live alone—in our city, our nation, or our world,” President Monson says. “There is no dividing line between our prosperity and our neighbor’s wretchedness. ‘Love thy neighbor’ is more than a divine truth. It is a pattern for perfection. This truth inspires the familiar charge, ‘Go forth to serve.’ Try as some of us may, we cannot escape the influence our lives have upon the lives of others. Ours is the opportunity to build, to lift, to inspire, and indeed to lead. The New Testament teaches that it is impossible to take a right attitude toward Christ without taking an unselfish attitude toward men.”

President Monson encourages Latter-day Saints to “reach outward. … Membership in the Church calls forth a determination to serve. A position of responsibility may not be of recognized importance, nor may the reward be broadly known. Service, to be acceptable to the Savior, must come from willing minds, ready hands, and pledged hearts.

And President Monson encourages us to trust in the Lord as we serve. “Occasionally discouragement may darken our pathway; frustration may be a constant companion. In our ears there may sound the sophistry of Satan as he whispers, ‘you cannot save the world; your small efforts are meaningless. You haven’t time to be concerned for others.’

“Trusting in the Lord, let us turn our heads from such falsehoods and make certain our feet are firmly planted in the path of service and our hearts and souls dedicated to follow the example of the Lord. In moments when the light of resolution dims and when the heart grows faint, we can take comfort from His promise: ‘Be not weary in well-doing. … Out of small things proceedeth that which is great’” (Doctrine and Covenants 64:33).

Month 7 Week 3: Season

Canada Day!! For this year our Canada Day was filled with sickness. Regan was on call and I was at home for part of it with sick kids. (Until family had pity on us and invited us over anyways) So the only shot of Canada day was this of the balloon launch before we all ran the race.

Eli's 4th Birthday: Super Heros

Eli had his fourth birthday a couple weeks ago and I thought I'd share what we did. It really was a pretty relaxed party. At our house the kids are allowed to invite as many kids as how old they are turning. So Eli was supposed to invite 4. And him being the wheeler and dealer that he is, he worked that into more kids. First he told me who he wanted. Then he kept saying that he wanted the moms to come too. Then he added in the other siblings. And then the morning of he was like WAIT why isn't Talan here (he lives across the street) so he ran over there and invited him to come over too. (And his mom ran to the store and bought Elie a present. So really Eli worked it to have way more than the allotted 4 kids to his fourth birthday. And really, that is soooooo Eli.

I made all the kids "capes" in the cutting of the men's t-shirts. It worked great and I made 12 in about 10 minutes. Perfect :)
Flying to the course

Anyways, on to the picture overload. We made an obstacle course in the backyard. Really I think I do one at every boys party. :) SO this one I tried to think of super heroes and the things they "do".

First they ran through "flames" and weren't supposed to let the flames touch them. (the blowing wind sure helped them out on that!)
Going thru "fire'

Then the had to climb through two different spider webs that Alden made. (It sure was good they had started our fence but just had the poles so we could use them!)

Then run to the trampoline to jump from one side to the other without hitting the bombs (balls) that were on it.

Then on to jump over the buildings

Then on to Target practice.

Then a "super break".
a little super break

And they could do the course over and over. Which they did.
"climbing" buildings
Jumped those buildings easily!!
Super Eli

For the food we did Eli's very favorite thing in the world. Cereal. I bought a bunch of sweetened cereals that I never let them eat. And had milk and juice boxes.
Food table
I cut a bunch of super hero phrases out on my Silhouette Cameo and made the "city" backdrop out of poster board from the dollar store.
The crew eating

A little shot of the stamped spoons I got for the cereal... kinda fun :)

Eli having a cupcake. I should say blowing out the candles. Cause all he does is lick the icing. Four for four he has never eaten his birthday cake. So this year I got smart and made some yummy banana cupcakes with Vanilla Bean Cream Cheese Icing. It was totally cause I knew moms would be eating them too. And since Eli never eats his cake, we might as well enjoy them :) HA

It was lots of fun and really nice that all the mom's were around to hang out too :) And the best thing is that almost everything we did I just gathered it all and threw it away. Really really fast clean up :)
