We've got a big problem around here people

And this is the culprit!
DSC_0060
His current wake up time. 5:30 am to 6:30 am. That's EARLY people! Like REALLY early. Like to get 8 hours of sleep a person would have to go to bed at like 9:30pm And 6:30 would be a GOOD day.

Sure he's cute....

But that's EARLY!! So we have to keep him quiet (which is no small feat) until the other kids get up. Which is like 830 or 9. That's when there is no school. Alden has to get up at 730am for school.

But still if Eli is up at 5:30 that is 2 hours to try and keep the kid quiet.
And he's not quiet.

So by 11:15 he looks like this.......

(and it is also how I feel come 11:15)

But I have to keep him up until 1 so I can drop off Lucy at preschool. Which is always fun. And he is always happy during that time - NOT (I had an 80's flashback when I typed that....)

I just don't know what to do with him. Cause that is TOO early. He didn't get the memo. Around here we sleep in. Like at LEAST 8.

He's signing "all done" in these two and his hair is all spiky cause after he ate all he wanted he dumped his bowl of rice krispies onto his head and smeared it around. It was awesome.

I feel all done with this crazy early morning business!!

I feel for you! Marley went through a phase where she was getting up at 6:30am and it was horrible! Mainly because I getup when Colin is getting ready for work and then I am heading back to bed for a few hours; Hunter likes to sleep in. So I started feeding Marley at 5:30 and now she'll sleep until 8.

I too feel for you. Isaiah gets up around 6. I find if I put him down for 11-11:30am for a nap then he'll sleep in longer the next day but Matt usually has him during the day and well...they play too long!

I feel your pain! I am lucky if I can get Karington to sleep until 6:30...normally she ends up in bed with us at 5:30 and I just hope she's doze off for a bit. Hope you manage to find a solution!

Keep him up at night for an extra half hour or more. It will be painful but keep waking him up so he is exhausted and sleeps in. Dan had his nights and days mixed up and drove us crazy for a while. Good Luck. KB

Sounds like he's figured out a way to get some one-on-one time with mom! ; ) Good luck.

I loved this post! Lately, a lot of my friends have been saying their kids are waking up unusually early and my 18 month old has been waking up at 5:30 too, maybe it's the time of year? Who knows! Oh motherhood, how it stretches us!!

I hope you find a solution. I can't imagine trying to keep him quiet for that long. I am still working on getting sleep through the night.

IF you find the cure, let me know!

Thank goodness none of my boys ever got up that early! We were closer to 6:30. Oh, the rice krispie head? I've seen teen boys with the same hairstyle :)

I don't have a solution....just lots of empathy! All 3 of my boys are early risers...always have been. 6:30 is a good day for us around here too. And it doesn't matter what time they go to bed - they're still up insanely early.
I keep telling myself that I'm going to sleep in heaven....

Thanks. I feel alot better knowing that I'm done all that.
Two is fine for me....grin! If I was close you would throw something at me wouldn't you?

We put fans (white noise) in our kids rooms so they don't wake up when they others do. I know some people think this is bad because they get used to them and will always need them, but I haven't found that at all.

Oh man, thank heaven for naps, at least I hope you take one with him!!
Funny post though, you told your story so well and the pics are great, sorry I can laugh because it's not me. Really, though, I feel for ya.

I feel your pain. My third kid has alway gotten up before 6. As a baby he was raring to go at 5 or 5:30. I have no advice for you.... he's 7 and he gets up now at 6:30 IF WE'RE LUCKY!!! Sesame Street for him and a good book for me is what got me through. Good luck to you!!!

Oh how I know how you feel! I am NOT a morning person, and my precious daughter is. We've finally managed to get her to sit and watch Dora with a bowl of cheerios until everyone else wakes up - but it took us about a year to get there. We tried everything - nothing worked. She's got some crazy internal clockwork. Every morning around 6, she's up and at 'em while her mother is up and stumbling to turn the TV on.

Too bad he wasn't mine.. Our clocks are in sync for sure..
Good thing he's so damn cute... LOL!!!
It will pass Rhonda, and in the mean time.. Enjoy it..
Time goes by too quickly. You will cherish these moments in a few years, and you can look back on it and laugh.. Just not now!!!
